Combined Federal Campaign Season of Giving
WASHINGTON, D.C. — As December begins, the Forest Service invites you to join in the spirit of generosity by celebrating Giving Tuesday. This Global Day of Giving, observed on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was founded over a decade ago as a charitable response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Today, it has become the world’s largest giving event, with over $3 billion in charitable pledges expected tomorrow. Giving Tuesday is a crucial moment for thousands of charities, many of which rely on your generosity to sustain their missions in the coming year.
Giving Tuesday also marks the midpoint of the Combined Federal Campaign. Last year, Forest Service employees pledged an impressive $329,376. This year, we’ve set an ambitious goal of $350,000. To raise awareness of CFC and celebrate this important day of giving, the USDA CFC has designated Dec. 3, 2024, as USDA Jersey Day. Whether you’re working virtually or in the office, wear your favorite sports team jersey to show your team spirit and support for CFC Giving Tuesday.
If you’ve already made your CFC pledge—thank you! Your generosity is making this holiday season brighter for those in need. If you haven’t yet pledged, it’s not too late. Giving through the CFC is simple and impactful. Here’s how you can participate:
Choose your cause: Whether you care about finding cures for diseases, protecting the environment or promoting equality for all, the CFC has vetted charities for any cause you want to support. You can even give to multiple charities with one pledge.
Make your pledge: Use the online giving system or download the CFC Mobile Giving App
Make an impact: Thousands of charities receive the support they need throughout the year. Just giving $5 per paycheck or a few hours of your time each month to your favorite charity makes a big difference
This year’s theme, “Give Happy,” reminds us that giving together spreads joy and creates ripples of positive change far beyond our forests and grasslands. Through the CFC, we can nurture communities, support vital causes and contribute to meaningful change on a national scale. Your contributions, no matter the size, embody the Forest Service’s spirit of service and dedication to caring for both people and the land.
Let’s make this Giving Tuesday a big win for everyone. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to making a difference!
