WASHINGTON, DC—Join Forest Service Research & Development, Conservation Education, Natural Inquirer and NASA on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. ET for our interactive Moon Trees LIVE event. The event will be broadcast on the Natural Inquirer YouTube channel.

The moon trees project harks back 50 years, when smokejumper-turned-astronaut Stuart Roosa orbited the moon with tree seeds tucked into his personal kit. The Forest Service successfully germinated the seeds, which were planted across the country—creating the first generation of moon trees.

Learn more about the next generation of moon trees heading to space on Artemis I during Moon Trees LIVE. This joint program with NASA will explore the history of moon trees, the Forest Service’s collaboration with NASA, and how and why seeds from five tree species—loblolly pine, Douglas fir, sycamore, giant sequoia and sweet gum—were chosen for this mission.

During the event, NASA and Forest Service experts will answer your questions LIVE. You can also submit questions beforehand by filling out a form on the Natural Inquirer website.

We hope you can join us for Moon Trees LIVE!
