New electronic correspondence system
The main point
The Forest Service Chief Information Office, in coordination with the Office of Regulatory and Management Services, will launch a new correspondence system to replace Mercury by Sept. 5.
A team of contractors and Forest Service employees, supported by CIO, developed the Electronic Content and Correspondence System to replace the current correspondence system.
Mercury will no longer accept new packages starting Sept. 8. However, users will continue to be able to access and work on packages created prior to this date. All archived Mercury packages will be moved into Pinyon for records retention by April 2026.
What you need to do
Starting Sept. 5, all new correspondence packages must be processed in the Electronic Content and Correspondence System.
