Nguyen selected for competitive AI Lab program
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Lucille Nguyen was selected to attend the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Executive Branch AI Lab for its spring 2024 session. Nguyen is part of the Emergency Medical Services team in the Office of Safety and Occupational Health.
This was by far the most competitive application cycle in the history of the Wilson Center's AI Lab programming, with only 40 available slots for federal service personnel. Nguyen was selected over 250 other applicants from across the federal government for her place in the program.
As part of the Wilson Center’s Science and Technology Innovation Program, the AI Lab brings together emerging leaders in government to work with leading scholars and practitioners in the field. Led by top technologists and scholars from the private, public and nonprofit sectors, participants take a hands-on role exploring the major questions involving artificial intelligence.
Nguyen plans to use what she learns in the AI Lab to inform her work on data management, analysis and policy as a data scientist. She hopes to use this opportunity to develop a strong network of technologists in the public and private sectors. These experiences and connections will help Nguyen in the day-to-day work she does on cultivating a culture of data-driven decision making across key program areas in the Office of Safety and Occupational Health.
The Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars is a nonpartisan think tank established by Congress to bring together professionals from the private and public sector to study key contemporary public policy issues.
