October 3, 2023

A row of trees with leaves turning red and yellow in the foreground. A dense mist behind them, a range of mountains in the background.
Of These Misty Mountains. Climbing above the early morning fog in Northeast Georgia, Chris Doupnik surveys portions of Black Rock State Park and the Chattooga River Ranger District. As he and his fellow coworker, Brad Howard, set out to tackle road work on the district, they can’t help but take in the splendors of these misty mountains they call home.  This photo is the winner of the September 2023 employee photo contest: People and fall colors. USDA Forest Service photo by Christopher R. Doupnik.

You, too, can have your photo highlighted on our national Flickr account. We want your employee photos. Landscape photos are wonderful, but we really want to see people in your photos. Photos of Forest Service personnel in uniform are especially desirable. October's theme is "Relationships with people and the land to include fire."
