2011 National and Regional Forums
Publication of the proposed planning rule in the Federal Register began a 90-day public comment period, which ended on May 16, 2011. To encourage public engagement, the Forest Service hosted a public forum to discuss the proposed rule on March 10, 2011 in Washington, D.C. In addition, regional public forums were held throughout the country during the public comment period.
2011 National Forum
The National Forum was held on March 10, 2011. The purpose of these forums was to help the public understand the content of the proposed rule. The Forest Service did not solicit public comments at the forums. Because the forum occurred during the public comment period, comments needed to be submitted in writing.
The presentations, Q&A and discussions that took place during the Forum were video streamed but are NOT be part of the comment record.
