Fire Science - Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)

The intent of establishing an interagency unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) program is to establish research, development and testing to assess UAS in fire operations. The Departments of Interior and Agriculture will develop consistent protocols, products, resources and training

The Department of Interior Office of Aviation Services (OAS) and United States Forest Service (USFS) UAS program will develop an agreement with no fewer than two projects.

The National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) is also developing incident position descriptions, standards and training for unmanned aircraft systems.
