Prosser Reservoir - Water Recreation

Province Brook Trailhead

This trail accesses Province Pond where there is a shelter and outhouse. In winter this trail serves as a snowmobile trail.

Province Pond Shelter

Just a 1.6 mile hike in from the parking area, Province Pond Shelter is located on the edge of Province Pond. The shelter sleeps 6-8, and has an open aired toilet with privacy screen.

Provo Canyon Scenic Byway

The Byway winds through wide, wonderful Provo Canyon, past Bridal Veil Falls and Deer Creek Reservoir, and on to the scenic Heber Valley. Prune Creek Campground

Prune Creek Campground is nestled among pines at the confluence of Prune Creek and the South Tongue River and along U.S. Highway 14, the Bighorn Scenic Byway. Nearby lake and river trout fishing opportunities are excellent. Horse/Pack animals are not allowed at this site.

The Ptarmigan Peak Trail is an excellent trail to experience a panoramic view of all the mountain ranges in the Dillon Ranger District: the Continental Divide, Gore Range, Tenmile Range and Williams Fork Range. At tree line this trail enters the Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness Area and provides opportunities to hike to Ptarmigan Peak or Ptarmigan Pass.  

Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness

The United States Congress designated the Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness in 1993 and it now has a total of 12,760 acres. All of this is located in Colorado and is managed by the Forest Service. Pueblo Park Campground

Pueblo Park Campground is located in a large, cool stand of old growth ponderosa pines adjacent to the northern edge of the Blue Range Wilderness boundary with Dangerous Park Trail #515 on the northern end of the campground, and the WS Mountain Trail #43 immediately south of the campground entrance.

Puente Roto Recreation Area

The Puente Roto or “Broken Bridge” recreation site is found along the recreation segment of the Rio Mameyes, which is designated by Congress as a Wild and Scenic River for its outstanding natural beauty. Pulver Mountain Group Camping Site

The Pulver Mountain Group Site is a camping site suited for large groups. It offers a private area with a large pavilion with several tables and a large communal fire pit. Within the group site there are six individual campsites with a table and a campfire ring at each site. Nearby, there is a two-stall vaulted toilet available and a private activity area accessible on foot only.

Pumice Crater and Crater Glass Flow Geologic Area

Pumice Crater and Crater Glass Flow Geologic Area is an 800 acre site that includes stunning geologic features. Red and white cinder cones overlook vast deposits of volcanic glass and pumice, as well as ancient faults and fissures. The features you see here record some of the complex geologic events which formed Medicine Lake Volcano (part of the Cascade Range) and have shaped the surrounding landscape.

Punchbowl Cove Buoy Trailhead

This buoy is available on a first come; first serve basis and is intended for use by small and medium watercraft. The buoy is located in 30-80 feet of water and has a 7/8 inch chain. Look for a white buoy with blue reflective tape. This buoy provides access to the Punchbowl Lake trail and shelter.

Punchbowl Lake Shelter Site

This three-sided shelter is located at the end of the Punchbowl Lake trail. This area supports a variety of birds and wildlife, and offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Misty Fiords. Steep granite cliffs, glacially-carved valleys and dense rainforests make this a beautiful and popular destination.

Punchbowl Lake Trailhead

The Punchbowl Lake trail is 1.0 miles long. The trail begins with boardwalk and natural tread on a easy grade but it quickly changes and becomes quite steep. There are many switchbacks and wet, rocky areas. At the halfway point the trail branches off to overlook a breathtaking waterfall. The trail ends at Punchbowl Lake where you will find a three sided shelter and an outhouse.

Purgatoire Campground

Activities on this developed campground include stream fishing, hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. The North Fork Trail #1309 trailhead is located on the north side of the campground. This trail is a nonmotorized trail, and you can access the Wildcat and the Coal Creek trails. These two trails dead end into private land and are not maintained.
