Your national forests and grasslands are 193 million acres of vast, scenic beauty waiting for you to discover. Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Z. Stuarts Bar River Access

Downstream from the R. Lyle Davis bridge is a dirt road leading to a steep graded road to the river bar under the bridge. There is parking available. Due to steepness and very sharp switchback, this access is not recommended for vehicles towing jet boat trailers, etc.

Zealand Campground

​Conveniently located along NH Rte 302, this small 11 site campground offers open and partially wooded camping along the Ammonoosuc River.

Zealand Picnic Area

​Zealand Picnic Area offers picnic tables, pedestal mounted grills, and a vault toilet along the Ammonoosuc River.

Zealand Trailhead (Forest Rd 16)

This trailhead serves the Zealand Trail which allows access to the AMC's Zealand Falls Hut, the Appalachain Trail, and the Pemigewasset Wilderness. Zealand Falls Hut via the Zealand Trail is 2.3 miles.

Zimmerman Lake Trailhead (#977)

Zz. Green Riffle River Access/Mandatory Take Out

You must exit the Klamath River here. This is the last legal take out before the Ishi Pishi Falls (class 6).  A 1/2 mile long graded road leads to the river bar with an unimproved road to the water's edge.
