Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. The campground at South Twin Lake offers opportunities for fishing.  The lake is screened by heavy forest, and generally stays relatively windless and calm. There is a boat launch area adjacent to this campground.

Sparks Lake Boating Site

This site includes a boat launch, parking area, and trail on Sparks Lake.  There are boat-in camping opportunities at dispersed sites.  The paved interpretive Ray Atkeson Loop Trail can be accessed from this site. Sparks Lake Day Use Area

This site includes a boat launch, picniciking area, and the Sparks Lake Trail around part of Sparks Lake.  There are boat-in camping opportunities at dispersed sites. The paved interpretive Ray Atkeson Loop Trail can be accessed from this site. There is a 10 mph speed limit on Sparks Lake. Motorized and non-motorized boats are allowed. 

Sparks Lake Trailhead

This trail leaves from Sparks Lake Day Use Area near Sparks Lake to the Metolius-Windigo Horse Trail.  It crosses rolling and forested lava terrain.

Spring Boat Launch

Located on popular Crescent Lake, this site provides fishing access for a variety of fish species including large lake trout. There are a few day use sites in this area for individuals wishing to have a picnic along the beach underneath a canopy of lodgepole pines.

Spring Campground

On Crescent Lake, vegetation in this campground is widely spaced giving it an open and sunny character. The sites are flat and large. Waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, sunning, hiking, mountain biking, and fishing are attractions offered by this site. There is a boat launch area within this campground.

Sun-Lava Paved Path

This 5.5 mile paved multi-use path within the national forest land travels in and outside the boundaries of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. The non-motorized path travels from the Lava Lands Visitor Center to the Benham Falls area, down to Sunriver.

Sunset Cove Boat Launch

This site provides 5 first come, first served boat slips and a nice rock jetty perfect for fishing for large lake trout. There's also an accessible pier with a handrail. The site also features a fish cleaning station, a paved parking lot and there are a few accessible picnic sites and a trail leaving from the site.

Sunset Cove Campground

Sunset Cove Campground is located next to Odell Lake, and offers opportunities for fishing and sailing. There is a boat launch area within this campground.

Sunset View Day Use Area

Suttle Lake

Bound on all sides by mixed conifer forest, the lake is deep and clear. The west end is best for seeing waterfowl because it's sheltered from the prevailing wind. Located at Swamp Wells, the horse camp offers access to three northbound trails and one southbound trail.

Swampy Lakes Sno-Park/Trailhead

Tam McArthur Rim Trailhead

Tandy Bay Picnic Area

This site is located on Crescent Lake just past Whitefish Creek..There are two picnic areas in this small site, one with beautiful views of the lake, and the other with just a small loop drive and a picnic table. One toilet serves both sites. 

Tenino Boating Site

This site has a boat launch and is located on the Deschutes River below the Wickiup Reservoir.

Tetherow Boat Launch

Located below Pringle Falls, this site offers a primitive boat ramp for the non-motorized area of the Deschutes River.
