Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Gardner Creek Trailhead

Gardner Park Trailhead

This seasonal trail is generally not melted off until late June/early July due to snow levels at this elevation. This Trailhead serves as the access point for the Gardner Park Wildlife Trail No. 1107. Garfield Ridge Shelter

​The Garfield Ridge Shelter is located at approximately 3,900 ft. on the eastern shoulder of Mt. Garfield just off the Garfield Ridge Trail (Appalachain Trail). Gates Group Campground

Gates Group Campground is located on the east shore of French Meadows Reservoir in a coniferous forest. Campground is in close proximity to the Granite Chief Wilderness. Gates Lake CUA Dispersed Camping

Gateway Boat Camp

The Gateway Boat Camp is located approximately 8.5 air miles from Eureka, and 0.18 miles from the Canadian Border. The campground has 5 sites with tables and fire rings. Amenities include a pit toilet and hitching rack. The most popular way to gain access to this campground is by boat (boat must be beached) although access by trail is available too.

Gateway Recreation Area

The Gateway Recreation Area is located in the La Sal Mountain Range and overlooks Castle Valley and the Colorado River. It extends from the northern Forest boundary south to Forest Road 207, from the forest boundary on the west and to the boundary on the east. Gavin Forest Educational Tour

The Gavin Forest Educational Tour is an 11-mile self-guided driving tour using interpretive signs to inform visitors about south Mississippi's beautiful pine forests and the practices used to maintain a healthy forest while providing for recreation, wildlife and other public benefits.
