Coy Bald Trailhead

This is a small parking area. The road loops around and goes back out to the main road. Within the loop there are several picnic tables and campsites. Coy Flat Campground

Located 20 miles east of Springville, CA, near Camp Nelson via State Highway 190.  The campground has 19 single family units and 1 double family unit. Coyote Camp

Visitors to Coyote Camp can enjoy an out-of-the-way camping area within the National Red Dirt Wildlife Management Preserve. Although this camp is a designated hunter's camp, it can be utilized year around by general forest visitors. Very primitive site with limited facilities. There is OHV access to the Sandstone Trail.

Coyote Campground

Coyote Campground is situated in an open pine forest and grassland. The site offers 6 tent/trailer sites. Primary activities include; camping (summer and during fall hunting season) and picnicking.

Coyote Canyon Camping Area

Coyote Canyon Camping Area is a primitive campsite and picnic area next to Coyote Creek.   Uses:  picnicking, camping  Facilities:  One picnic table, two fire rings, and one portable toilet.  No potable water.  

Coyote Coulee Trailhead

Popular trailhead for hiking, horseback and biking. Vault toilet provided at trailhead. Loop trail system.

Coyote Flat

This is a steep and rocky road, best suited to high clearance 4X4 vehicles. Much of Coyote Flat is almost 10,000 feet in elevation. Views of Palisade Glacier at the South end of the Flat. No water or Facilities in this area.

Coyote Group Campground

Coyote Group Campground is located on the north east shore of French Meadows Reservoir in a coniferous forest. Campground is in close proximity to the Granite Chief Wilderness. Group sites can accommodate RVs or tents. Features are cooking grills, campfire rings with benches, serving and eating tables, and lots of tent space. Coyote Hill Trailhead gives access to the Coyote Hill Trail #314. The trailhead has a large parking lot suitable for all vehicle types and horse trailers. Winter groomed for skate /XC skiing and snowshoeing by Pagosa Ranger District when suitable snow conditions exist.  Dogs on leashes ok.
