Bishop

Bishop Interagency Office

  • Additional Information: The office uses the National MOU for authority and IGOs to transfer money. There are approximately three agreements/IGOs currently being exercised under Service First authority. The agencies in Bishop have integrated their fire, fuels, and vegetation management programs, with a dual-delegated FMO. They are looking to expand Service First into law enforcement, like the California Desert District. At this co-location, shared positions at this time are Dispatcher, Fire Archeologist, and Mitigation Specialist. Geologists, botanists, archaeologists and other disciplines collaborate together, sharing resources and expertise. BLM and the NPS partner with the Inyo National Forest in running visitor centers in Mammoth Lakes, Lone Pine, and Bishop, and the NPS partners with the Inyo National Forest to run the Mono Basin Scenic Visitor Center in Lee Vining.

Eureka

Eureka Interagency Fire Management Office

  • Additional Information: This cooperative fire management relationship provides leadership, supervision, and both planning and administrative support to the fire management programs of the National Park Service and the Forest Service. The exchange of resources and funds in support of fire suppression, pre-suppression, severity, natural resource project planning, fire training and certification activities increases efficiencies and safety on lands managed by the National Park Service and the Forest Service.

Moreno Valley

California Desert Interagency Fire and Aviation Program

  • Additional Information: The program consists of collocated engines at two additional locations to Moreno Valley, Blackrock and Hole-in-the-Wall, where NPS and BLM each have an engine located. These engines all share one fire frequency, dispatched from the FICC. No money is exchanged within this fire program. There is a unique arrangement in Hole-in-the-Wall: the NPS FMO is delegated to manage both BLM and NPS employees.

Needles

Palm Springs

Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument

  • Additional Information: There is a single BLM manager for the monument partly funded by FS. This Monument Manager is duel-delegated. BLM uses FS forest regulations to manage this area, which is unique for the BLM. The management team for the Monument is in BLM Palm Springs Field Office. There also is a joint visitor center for the Monument, with one permanent BLM park ranger and one permanent FS park ranger. Also, one FS Forestry Tech and one Forestry SCEP at this center. The Visitor Center is open year-round. A broad Service First agreement was written for leadership and monument management in 2007.

San Bernardino

Federal Interagency Communications Center

  • Additional Information: This collocated building is owned by the San Bernardino NF. There are 20 dispatchers at this location: 7 BLM, 2 NPS and 11 FS. The Center Manager is also a lead dispatcher and FS employee. To manage this facility, there is an Interagency Operations Group, which meets monthly.

San Diego

Cleveland National Forest

San Diego Project Office

  • Additional Information: Two BLM employees work in this office, which is owned by the California Department of Fish and Game, and also has FWS employees. There is a BLM Law Enforcement Ranger and a BLM Wildlife Biologist.
