New look for Forest Service websites

August 20, 2021

NEW MEXICO—As a result of nearly two years of collaboration between the regions and the Chief Information Office Web Services Team, the Eastern Region and Southwestern Region will feature newly updated public websites starting today, Aug 20. Two sites in Region 3, the Arizona Trail and Four Forest Restoration Initiative, transitioned to this new look and feel earlier this month.

This design change is the first of several web improvements in the works to align with the 21st Century Idea Act and web modernization efforts within USDA. It aligns with the look and format of the Forest Service headquarters website and is consistent with the web design standards other federal websites. The new changes will make our websites more easily identifiable as a trusted government website, more accessible to visitors and will provide a responsive layout that will adapt to any device—from PCs to mobile devices.

Are you wondering if this is coming to your website? Web managers across the agency will begin updates in the next few months with the anticipation of most websites updated in 2022.

If you have any questions about these improvements, please email your regional web manager.
