The overlook provides a view of a deep cirque and interesting rock formations of the Bottomless Pit. The site is accessed from the Pikes Peak Highway. The trail to the bottom of the pit begins on Barr Trail 1 mile west of Barr Camp.

The Boulder Creek Trailhead is on Forest Road 44N53Y, off of Forest Road 44N45 just past Indian Scotty Campground.
The trailhead provides access to Trail #5534 into the Marble Mountain Wilderness. The trail connects with Trail #5535 toward Muse Meadow and Deep Lake, or to Trail #5529 circling 8,299' Boulder Peak and passing the Upper and Lower Wright Lakes.
