Your national forests and grasslands are 193 million acres of vast, scenic beauty waiting for you to discover. Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Cedar Creek Lower Trailhead

Cedar Creek Picnic Area

Located just east of the Smokey Bear Ranger Station on Forest Road 88. This picnic area offers water, accessible bathrooms, picnic tables for the general public. It also offers a reservation-only group area.

Cedar Creek Picnic Shelter

Please not that the Picnic Shelter at Cedar Creek is no longer available due to fire damage. Picnic Tables, water, and grills are available at the surrounding Cedar Creek Picnic Area. Day-use only.

Cedar Creek Rifle Range

This rifle range accommodates targets at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. This range is fully accessible to disabled visitors. Three of the five shooting tables are under a shelter. Visitors from the Cassidy Bridge Hunt Camp can reach the range in only ten minutes. It is an easy place to practice target shooting while staying at the camp. The Cedar Creek Shooting Range in the Oconee National Forest is available for those interested in perfecting their target skills.  The shooting range, which is in the Cedar Creek Wildlife Management Area, is just one of 17 shooting ranges currently available on public land in Georgia. Cedar Flat Group Camps

Located near Westgard Pass and White Mountain Road, three separate large group sites are popular with academic institutions for geology field trips. Surrounded by Pinyon and Juniper, Camp Nelson, Camp Noren, and Camp Ferguson all have shade ramada’s, campfire ring, picnic table, and vault toilets. These sites are dry, the nearest water source is Big Pine.
