Chalk Buttes Land Unit
One of eight land units on the Sioux Ranger District in far south-eastern Montana. Remote and undeveloped this land unit offers many opportunities for dispersed camping and hiking.

Chalk Creek Canyon
Chalk Creek Canyon, one of the valley's most popular areas.The Chalk Creek canyon was once home to the Chalk Creek mining district, one of Colorado's richest mining districts. During the 1870's and 1880's the towns of Hortense, Alpine, St. Elmo, Romley and Hancock thrived as a result of the discovery of gold and silver-laden ore.
Chalk Creek Trailhead
The Chalk Creek Trailhead is located east of Fillmore, Utah along Forest Road 100 at an elevation of 5,555 feet. This trailhead is in the lower section of Chalk Creek Canyon and is surrounded by mixed brush, pinyon and juniper trees. The site has a small dirt surface parking area, loading ramp and an information kiosk.
Chalk Lake Campground
Chalk Lake Campground offers 19 sites each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. The campground sits at an elevation of 9,000 feet in Chalk Creek Canyon, which gets its name from the soft, white, chalk-like kaolinite canyon walls. Chalk Lake Fishing Site
Chalk Lake Fishing Site is located next to the Chalk Lake Campground and is a great family fishing spot with rainbow, brook and brown trout. Chalk Lake is a small lake, about 12 acres in size and is regularly stocked for fishing. Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake.

Chama Basin Trailhead - Trail # 738
The Chama Basin Trailhead is at the beginning of Forest Service property at the end of FDR 121. It gives access to the Archuleta Creek and Chama River trails. Dispersed camping is allowed there.
Chama River Trailhead - Trail # 738
The Chama River trail is 4.9 miles long. It begins at Forest Road 121 and ends at Orel Cabin. Trail 740 begins approx. 2 miles up trail 738.
This trail follows the Chama River to the confluence of the West and East Forks, a splendid view of the upper Chama Basin will be enjoyed. There are rolling meadows and waterfalls that cascade from the cliffs just above.

Chamberlain Basin Camping Area
This very rustic dispersed campground is located adjacent to the Chamberlain Basin aristrip and is used primarily by pilots and their families flying in for the night. During hunting season it is also used as a staging area for outfitters and guides. Campground has outhouses and fire rings but no tables.
Chambers Lake Boating Site
A boat ramp is located adjacent to the campground in the Chambers Lake Picnic Site. The boat ramp may be unusable in late summer due to drop in water level. Gas and electric boat motors are permitted at a wakeless speed only.

This campground is located approximately 60 miles northwest of Fort Collins and situated in a mountainous, lodgepole pine forest. Each site contains a tent pad, bear locker, fire grate and picnic table. Additional facilities provided include a playground area and a boat ramp. A single site may hold up to eight people. Chambers Lake Picnic Site
Accessed off the entrance road to Chambers Lake Campground, this site provides parking and picnicking opportunities for day users of Chambers Lake. It is situated in a lodgepole pine forest setting and offers four picnic sites and three fire pits or grills, a restroom, and drinking water. There is also a playground adjacent to the site. Access to the boat ramp is through this site.

The Chamisa Trailhead is the first Forest trailhead as you go up the road to the Santa Fe Ski Basin.
Chamise Flat Dispersed Campground
About 12 miles north of Kernville, this is a dispersed camping site along the North Fork of the Kern River. No water is available. Portable toilets and trash bins available in the summer months.

Chanchelulla Wilderness is a relatively small wilderness area located about 50 miles west of Red Bluff. The Chanchelulla Wilderness was created in 1984 by Congress.
