Clear Lake is not a natural lake but a reservoir created and managed under a long-term permit for agricultural irrigation off the Forest. The lake usually becomes increasingly shallow beginning in early July in order to meet these agricultural water rights needs.
Clear Lake Campground
The Clear Lake Campground is a first-come, first-served campground located four miles south of Georgetown along the Guanella Pass Road. There are eight sites available, all are suitable for small camper trailers and tents. Each site contains a tent pad, fire grate and picnic table. A single site may hold up to eight people, and dogs must be on a hand-held leash.

Located within Unit 41 of the LBJ National Grasslands, Clear Lake is an 18-acre flood prevention lake that was constructed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides excellent fishing opportunities. A fully accessible 50-foot T-shaped pier constructed by volunteers provides all anglers access to fishing. The water depth at the end of the pier is 20+ feet.
