Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Todd Lake Day Use Area/Trailhead

Todd Lake is a short walk from the parking area and offers views of Broken Top. This is a popular site for picnicking and fishing during the summer months. There is a small walk-in campground with three sites overlooking the lake. Motors are prohibited on Todd Lake. Motorized and mechanical equipment (including bicycles and drones) are prohibited in the Wilderness.

Trapper Creek Boat Launch

This beautiful boat launch is densely forested. Mosquitoes are oppressive in the early season and visitors are cautioned to come prepared with proper gear as well as repellent. There is limited trailer parking so come early to get a spot! There are two accessible picnic sites. Tumalo Falls Day Use Area

This very popular site offers beautiful views of Tumalo Falls just a few minutes from the trailhead. There are areas for picnicking and access to hiking and mountain biking trails. Upper Three Creek Sno-Park

North of Three Creek Lake, this sno-park provides access to 14 miles of nordic ski trails and several loop opportunities. To the south is the Moon Mountain/Bachelor area but the trail toward McKenzie Pass and Hoodoo is currently impassable due to damage and hazards from fire activity. Vista Butte Sno-Park

This sno-park has a small parking area, provides access to 6 miles of ski trails, and connects to the Swampy and Dutchman trail systems. It is usually full on winter weekends. To view a map of the nordic trail system accessed at this sno-park, click here.

Wake Butte Trailhead

This trail offers a scenic climb through ponderosa pine to the shoulder of Wake Butte.

Wanoga Snow Play Area Sno-Park

This increasingly favored sno-park provides access to both motorized and non-motorized dog-friendly trails, as well as opportunities for sledding and tubing. This is also a popular area for summer mountain biking. A map of the nordic trails can be found here.

West Cultus Boat-In Campground

West Cultus Boat-In Campground is 100% RESERVATION ONLY. Reservations can be made up to one day in advance of arrival date. West Cultus Boat-In Campground is boat/hike in only. on the west side of Cultus Lake.  This area offers 12 tent sites.
