Dougherty Campground
Dougherty Campground is situated in an open pine forest and grassland near the northern boundary of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. The site offers 4 tent/trailer sites, and 8 tent-only sites. Primary activities include; camping (summer and during fall hunting season), picnicking and berry picking.
Dougherty Trailhead
From Hill City, travel west on Deerfield Road for 5 miles. Turn north (right) onto Mystic Road, and travel for 5.5 miles. This trailhead serves both the Deerfield Trail as well as the Mickelson Trail. The Mickelson Trail is managed by the State of South Dakota. This trailhead has restroom facilities.
Douglas Creek Cabin
This cabin is located in the north end of the Flint Creek Range adjacent to Douglas Creek. It sits in a grassy meadow, surrounded by mature evergreen trees. Built in the 1960s by the Forest Service this cabin was used as an administrative cabin for crews working in the area before becoming a rental cabin for public use.
