Kern Wild and Scenic River
The Upper Kern River is between Lake Isabella and the Johnsondale Bridge and is part of the North Fork of the Kern Wild and Scenic River. Fishing and whitewater boating are popular. Several developed campgrounds and day use areas are along the river. Dispersed camping (outside of campgrounds) and campfires with permits are allowed in much of the area, but must be at least 25 feet from the river’s edge.

Kerr Campground
This campground is located next to the North Fork Salmon Creek. There are two loops in this campground with a total of 11 single campsites and one double site. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spaces. Two toilet facilities service the campground. No water is available. Garbage service is located in Oriole campground to the south.
Kerr Lake Fishing Site
The access to Kerr Lake is from the junction of FDR 250 and FDR 257. The first 2 miles to Lily Pond is a good gravel road. The last 2 miles to Kerr Lake is a rough 4-wheel drive road, high clearance recommended. The lake is a natural lake of 40 surface acres. Fishing is for cutthroat trout by artificial flies and lures only, 2 fish limit. There is limited camping around the lake. .
