Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Kirkham Hot Springs

Kirkham Hot Springs is located next to the South Fork Payette River just east of Lowman, Idaho, along State Highway 21 at an elevation of 4,000 feet. Kirkham Ridge Trailhead (Bull Trout)

The Kirkham Ridge Trailhead (Bull Trout) includes a registration box and loading/unloading ramp for animals. It serves Kirkham Ridge (#144), Warm Springs (#147) and Gates Creek (#016) trails. It is located near Warm Springs (Bull Trout) Trailhead and Bull Trout Lake Campground. All trailheads have space for parking.

Kirkham Ridge Trailhead (State Highway 21)

The Kirkham Ridge Trailhead (State Highway 21) is a signed site with information kiosk. It serves Kirkham Ridge (#144) and Warm Springs (#147) trails. Located near Kirkham Campground.

Kirks Fork Trailhead

Kirks Fork trailhead serves as the starting point for Kirks Fork Trail #830 (a National Recreation Trail leading to Anderson Butte), and provides a toilet, stock loading ramp, fire ring and parking space for one camper vehicle and several horse trailers.

Kirkwood Campground

CAUTION: There are bears in the area. Please keep all foods, soaps, and garbage properly stored in bear boxes. Check ahead. Campfires may not be allowed during fire restrictions.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Kismet Creek Trailhead #811

Kismet Creek Trail #811 starts at Marten Creek Bay on Marten Creek Road and follows Kismet Creek up to a major ridgeline to the east of Stevens Peak. The trail intersects Stevens Ridge Trail #1083 providing loop hiking opportunities.

Kite Lake Campground

Kite Lake Campground is located 5.5 miles northwest of Alma, Colorado, on County Road 8. It has five campsites, which are not recommended for trailers. Facilities include fire rings, tables and outhouse toilets, but there is no water or trash service.

This is a one-unit campsite along Mann Creek. It is next to the road so it can be noisy and dusty. There is no potable water available at the site, so come prepared with your own. Typical season of use is mid-May through late September or early October.

Klahini Bay Buoy Day Use Area

This buoy is available on a first come; first serve basis and is intended for use by small and medium watercraft. The buoy is located in 30-80 feet of water and has a 7/8 inch chain. Look for a white buoy with blue reflective tape.
