The North Fork of Pound Boat Launch offers year round lake access, popular with anglers and boaters alike.

This is the area surrounding the North Fork tributary of the Big Lost River.  This area can be accessed by the North Fork Road (#128), which is located off the Trail Creek Road (#128).

Two main routes into the corridor make it possible to tour the area in a loop, with little backtracking. Road 247 from the small community of Headquarters is a paved, mostly winding road. Road 250 is paved for several miles from its junction with State Highway 11 just south of the town of Pierce.

The North Fork of the Flathead River is part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. It starts at the Canadian Border and flows south to the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. 

North Fork Picnic Ground is located off U.S. Highway 16, the Cloud Peak Skyway.  Hunter Creek is nearby and the shade from many trees make this an ideal spot for a family picnic.

The North Fork Poudre Campground is located along the Deadman Road west of Red Feather Lakes, near the banks of the North Fork Cache la Poudre River in a dense lodgepole pine forest. This is an older facility with short parking spurs that will not accommodate larger RVs. Each of the nine sites have a picnic table, tent pad and fire grate.

Dispersed camping and campgrounds are available.

Approximately 3.3 miles from the beginning of the North Fork Road you will come to the ruins of the old mining camp of Rexford, just past Garibaldi Gulch. The North Fork Road leads you through thick areas of lodgepole pine and several clear cut areas. The road does eventually come to a dead-end so be prepared to turn-around and follow your same route back down.  

Follow FS Road 57 to the junction of roads 57 and 5730. Bike road 5730 four miles to its end to explore side roads and enjoy views of local peaks.

This picnic area is hike-in only and not accessible to vehicles, due to a road washout leading to the picnic area. Be Bear Aware! Bear safety is critical, for the safety of your group and/or you, as well as our bears. Help keep bears wild by following these tips.
