Wheeler Lakes -Gore Range TH #60

This trail enters the Eagles Nest Wilderness and provides great views of Copper Mountain Ski Area to the south and the Tenmile Range to the southeast. The trail climbs steadily up through aspen and lodgepole pine forests before reaching the two Wheeler Lakes. If you want a longer hike, then you can continue on the Gore Range Trail up to Lost Lake or to the top of Uneva Pass.  

Wheeler National Recreation TH #39

The Wheeler National Recreation Trail can either be started outside of Blue River just north of McCullough Gulch or near Copper Mountain. The trail climbs into the alpine and crosses over the Tenmile Range and has spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Wheeler Ridge

   This route will take you to nearly 11,000’ elevation to a viewpoint with spectacular views, this is a very difficult OHV road with steep climbs with boulders,  4WD with high clearance and experienced drivers are needed to reach the viewpoint. Beyond the viewpoint is not recommended for travel in vehicles, could be a nice hike. No Facilities in this area.

Whelan Lake Area

This area is popular for canoeing, fishing and camping. The camping area is near the south branch of the Pere Marquette River, on Whelan Lake.  The land surrounding the lake is primarily federal ownership.

Whetstone Horse Camp

Offering 28 miles of nearby horse trails, Whetstone Horse Camp is a great getaway for horseback riders who like to ride and camp. It serves as a base camp for riders on both the Rocky Gap (South Carolina) and the Willis Knob (Georgia) horse trails. Camping Rules

Whisker Lake was designated as a wilderness on October 2, 1978. This 7,500 acre tract is located 11 miles west of Florence, Wis., on the Michigan-Wisconsin border in Florence County.
