Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. West Fork Teton Trailhead

West Fork Upper Pahsimeroi Trailhead

This trailhead has minimal development, providing access to Merriam and Pass Lake Trails.  One metal fire ring, a picnic table and a two-sided latrine are on site.

West Glacier River Access Boating Site

West Green Mountain #719.1A

West Greens Lake Fishing Site

West Green's Lake Fishing Area offers fishing, a picnic and a nature trail. Non-motorized boats are allowed.

West Grouse Creek TH #2129

The West Grouse Creek trail begins at Us Hwy 24 near Minturn and ends at Turquoise Lakes: This trail is an old Forest road through pastureland for approximately 1/4 mile before entering dense stands of conifers and climbing steadily past a couple small lakes, over the north ridge of Grouse Mountain, and descending to Turquoise Lakes and the headwaters of Beaver Creek.  

West Hunt Loop

This loop takes you through several creek crossings and up through high aspen communities that are beautiful in the fall. There are views of Casto Bluff and Adams Head. The views around you are of high mountains meadows and forested areas. There is an excellent chance of viewing wildlife from this loop.

West Kaiser Campground

West Kaiser Campground offers 10 sites with picnic tables and fire rings.  Two vault toilets area also offered.  Water and trash service not provided.  

West Keystone Trailhead

The West Keystone Trailhead is located at 41653 sec. 32. on the south side of Peavine Mountain. A variety of opportunities are available in the area: including , Mt. Biking, OHV and 4x4. Open routes are marked with a route number and type of vehicles are authorized.

West Lake Campground

West Lake Campground is located 48 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado, near Red Feather Lakes. The campground is adjacent to West Lake in a mountainous, ponderosa pine forest. There are 36 sites; sites 1-5 are walk-in tent sites. All have electricity except for the walk-in sites. Each site has a picnic table, bear locker, fire grate and tent pad.

West Lake Crockett: (940) 627-5475

Located on the northwest shore of the 450-acre Lake Crockett, West Lake Crockett Recreation Area was completed in 1968. Lake Crockett was built in the 1930s as a recreation site for the area. Visitors may fish from the shore.

West Lake Picnic Site

This is a day use area that provides parking and access to West Lake. There are seven picnic sites at this facility, each with a table and fire pit or grill.

West Magnolia Dispersed Camping

Designated campsites (map) along eight miles of Forest Service Roads. Roads are open seasonally. Check Current Conditions before your visit. Camping is allowed in designated campsites only. There are no facilities of any kind.

West Magnolia Trailhead

West Magnolia Trailhead provides access to eight miles of singletrack trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding west of the Peak-to-Peak Highway south of Nederland. An additional eight miles of Forest Roads are open seasonally to motorized and non-motorized activities. Along these roadways are designated campsites. Camping is allowed in designated campsites only.

West Mamm Trailhead

The West Mamm Trailhead is located south of Rifle and provides access to the mid-point of the Battlement Trail. The West Miller Creek Trail is 3.0 miles long. It begins at Forest Road 221 and ends at Private Land.

West Morris Mtn. Campground

There are 14 individual campsites and 2 group campsites available at this location. Two vault toilets and thred double trash cans are located within the campground.  All sites have a table, grill/fire ring, lantern post and camping pad. West Mountain (North) / Poison Creek Trailhead

The West Mountain (North) / Poison Creek Trailhead is a signed site with water trough, loading/unloading ramp for animals and hitching rack. All trailheads have space for parking.
