Mead Base provides ample parking. The Wentworth Trail starts behind the historic home at Mead Base Conservation Center and reaches the summit of Mt. Israel (2,630 ft.) in 2.1 miles and 1,700 ft of elevation gain.

West Branch Campground
During the Great Depression the Civilian Conservation Corps built a camp here for the crews building the Greyback Road. Later it became a fire guard station and camp for fire crews and finally a public campground. The 10 family campsites are scattered along the West Branch of Indian Creek. There is lots of shade and camping guidebooks refer to it as quiet, secluded and tranquil.

West Chicago Creek Campground is located along its namesake creek at the base of Mount Blue Sky off Highway 103. There are 15 sites available for RV and tent camping. Each site contains a tent pad, picnic table, charcoal grill and fire ring. Other amenities include a vault toilet and trash dumpster. Electric/water/sewer site hook-ups are not available at this campground.
