Critically Imperiled Plant Profile (Not Listed or Proposed under the Endangered Species Act)
In the genus Eriophyllum, each flower head has a single series of involucre bracts, also called phyllaries that are of equal length. Note the head at upper right with ray flowers beginning to unfurl. The daisy-like flower heads clearly mark this plant as a member of the sunflower family. Photo by Korey M. Klutz.
This variety of woolly sunflower is known only from chaparral and woodlands in eastern Santa Barbara County and adjacent western Kern County, southern California. Photo by Korey M. Klutz.
