Threats

  • Conversion of high pineland and scrub for agricultural purposes, principally citrus groves; and for commercial, residential, and recreational purposes
  • Fire suppression, including reduced fire frequency due to the firebreak effects of roads and agricultural land uses)
  • Invasion by weeds wherever fill dirt is brought in, as for roadbeds or shoulders
  • Trash dumping, recreational use of off-road vehicles
