Description: Situated along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway, Anthony Lake provides a wonderful example of a glacially carved lake with wetlands and subalpine wildflowers. July and August provide visitors the best opportunities for wildflower viewing. a multitude of flowers can be seen: hikers gentian, glacier lilies, Lewis monkey flower, penstemons, larkspur, monkshood, mountain heather, columbine, and the alpine azalea. The short trail winding around this small lake is posted with signs describing wildflowers you will encounter. For more the more adventurous wildflower enthusiasts, another trail branches off to Hoffer Lakes, with more subalpine beauty.

Directions: Anthony Lake can be reached easily by passenger car. From La Grande take I-84 south for about 20 miles and take exit 285 and turn right onto N. Power River Lane. Follow N. Powder River Lane for about 4 miles then turn left onto Ellis Rd. Follow Ellis Rd. for 0.7 miles, then turn right onto the Anthony Lakes Highway. Stay on the highway for about 15 miles until you reach Anthony Lake. A forest service campground and day-use area is at the lake and is prominently posted on the Anthony Lake highway.

From Baker city take US 30 10 miles to Haines, Oregon. Turn left onto the Anthony Lakes Highway and stay on route for about 25 miles to Anthony Lake. A forest service campground and day-use area is at the lake and is prominently posted on the Anthony Lake highway.
