Reforestation Partnerships
Planting eastern white pine seedlings.
Since 1983, the Forest Service's Plant-A-Tree donation program has allowed individuals and groups to contribute voluntary charitable donations directly to the Forest Service for tree planting on National Forests as a positive and personal step toward improving the environment.
In addition to the Plant-A-Tree program, the Forest Service national office has national agreements in place with trusted conservation organizations to accomplish more together. Our partners have contributed millions of dollars in reforestation funds that are used for watershed restoration, post-fire restoration, forest health restoration, wildlife habitat restoration, carbon sequestration, and recreation projects. With the expertise and resources of our partners, the Forest Service can extend the work that we can accomplish with current reforestation funding levels, and nurture resilient forests today that will thrive well into the future.
The organizations below are official partners of the Forest Service National Reforestation Partnership Program:
- National Forest Foundation Chartered by Congress, the National Forest Foundation engages Americans in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the 193-million-acre National Forest System and administers private gifts of funds and land for the benefit of our national forests and grasslands.
- Arbor Day Foundation Founded in 1972, the Arbor Day Foundation inspires people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. It has supported the planting of nearly 500 million trees where they’re needed most in communities and forests around the world.
