In the 500-acre South Patrol Road prairie restoration nearly 200 different plant species have been planted and visitors will see sections of 8-foot-tall prairie grasses. South Pearl Road (#178)
There are several forest roads in the area. The South Pearl Road leads to the spur road #178A, and to the east of #169 there are roads #178.1, #178B, and #178D. Forest Road #176 is just south of #178 (it does not connect to #178 but it accessible from #169 or County Road 86).
South Pike Bay Boat Area
A concrete boat ramp provides access to the 4,670 acres of Pike Bay. Pike Bay is adjacent to US Highway 2. Walleye, northern pike, crappie and other panfish are found in this lake.

Known for its clear, secluded waters, good fishing, and cultural history. It is located three miles south on Cass Lake, MN on Highway 371 and two miles east on Forest Road 2137. South Pike Bay has 24 campsites with a picnic and swimming area on the east side of the campground. | Site Map

Trail #080 - This trail begins in Penrose Park off the Story Penrose Trail - 033 and goes east toward Kearny Creek where the motorized portion ends at a dispersed camping spot. The trail is open to non-motorized use beyond that point where it ends at Forest System Road 319.

These trails provide for challenging hikes, quality big game hunting, and scenic views.
