This fee free campground has one vault toilet and no picnic tables or fire rings. It is not suitable for trailers due to road conditions.

A 33-unit semi-primitive, wooded campground with paved access roads and parking spurs, located approximately 10 miles from Richwood, WV, adjacent to a popular 43-acre cold water fishing lake. Although the campground closes in winter, the lake is accessible year-round.

Summit Lake Trailhead

The Summit Lake Trailhead is a very primitive trailhead located along the Wild and Scenic North Powder River. It serves as a trailhead for both the Summit Lake and North Powder River Trails.

Summit Springs Guard Station

Summit Springs Guard Station is located a couple of miles off the Sheep Creek Geological Loop southwest of Flaming Gorge in the high Uinta Mountain Range. The Civilian Conservation Corps built the complex in 1931 as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. Summit System

The Summitt Trail System is about 2 miles south of Hill City.  It is a small system with only 5 miles of dedicated OHV trails.  It is used heavily by the Palmer Gulch KOA campground which is located nearby. These trails are open year round.

6/28/2023: Campground Closed due to snow and no access Located near the Summit Rest Area/Visitors Center/Lincoln Monument. Access to the Tie City and Happy Jack trail systems via the Headquarters and Crow Creek Loop Trails. Open seasonally weather permitting but you can park at the gate and hike in in the winter. Trails are very wet and muddy in the springtime. One vault toilet some picnic table available.
