Trailhead #219. This trailhead accesses the Skyline National Recreation Trail #225 as well as the Cottonwood Trail #219, Bears Hole #072, and Ten Mile Train #073. The Cottonwood Canyon Trail will take you north for approximately 4.5 miles and ends at the Alunite Trailhead. This day use picnic shelter has a 125 person capacity and includes a ballfield and an amphitheater. It sets just above the historic Vesuvius furnace ruins and south of Vesuvius Lake. The shelter facilities include electricity, drinking water, cooking grills, and picnic tables.
