Your national forests and grasslands are 193 million acres of vast, scenic beauty waiting for you to discover. Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Silver Fork Area

South of Highway 50 between the highway and Morman Emigrant Trail. Under "Find an Area" use the plus sign to the left of the name to drill down to a facility in that area.

Silver Fork Campground

CAUTION: There are bears in the area. Please keep all foods, soaps, and garbage properly stored in bear boxes. Please check with the campground attendant or entrance board before setting up your camp.

Silver Glen Run

Broad and cypress-lined, Silver Glen Run is a popular destination for boaters with a draft shallow enough to cross the bar at its mouth. Houseboats and sailboats frequently anchor beneath the tall cypress trees, where you might spot a nesting pair of eagles. Paddle along the edges to see wildlife and ancient middens.

Silver Island Lake is a large lake with both an eight site rustic campground and three backcountry campsites on its shores.  Access to the backcountry sites is through the boat launch at the rustic campground.  Choose the camping experience that suits you best!

Silver Jack Campground - Ouray RD

Silver Jack Campground has 60 campsites around three loops - Chipeta, Ouray and Sapinero. Each loop is heavily wooded with Aspen and a few spruce trees and an understory of tall grass and wildflowers. The campground is convenient to the Silver Jack Reservoir and a network of trails around the Cimarron Ridge. Silver Jack Day Use Area

Silver Jack Picnic Site has 4 picnic sites with tables and fire rings/grills. One site is accessible. There is a vault restroom. No water is available. This is a pack in/pack out site. A paved trail is adjacent to the parking lot that accesses interpretive signs and a spectacular view of the Chimney Rock Mountain and Silver Jack Reservoir.

Silver Jack Fisherman Access

Silver Jack Fisherman Access is a parking lot to access Silver Jack Reservoir. A natural surface boat launch is at end of the access road. Depending on the reservoir water level, walk-in boat launching may be needed. A vault restroom is available.

Silver Jack Shoreline #129

The Silver Jack Shoreline Trail #129 begins near the East Fork inlet of the Cimarron River and follows the shoreline of the Silver Jack Reservoir.  This trail provides access to some great fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, brook trout, and kokanee salmon. SILVER KING MINE INTERPRETIVE

Interpretive Site (Minor). This is a historic Gold Mine that was claimed by Brigham "Brig" Daniel Darger of Spanish Fork, Utah in 1894. It was a working gold mine throughout the 1890's and it was his place of residence with his wife Pansy Permelia Brown and their ten children. Throughout this interpretive area there is a trail with 8 interpretive information posts.

This body of water is part of the Big Cottonwood drainage.Silver Lake Visitor Center hours are 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 7 days a week, through the month of August.

Silver Lake Campground

At just under 10,500 feet Silver Lake Campground is the highest elevation campground on the Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District. Silver Lake Campground

Elevation 7200 feet. 63 campsites near Silver Lake. Boat launch and horse packing facilities nearby. Trailhead access to the Ansel Adams Wilderness. This is bear country. Please store food properly and don't feed the bears. Campsites will accommodate a 40 foot vehicle. Drinking water is  available. Flush toilets are available. Each campsite is equipped with a bear locker.

Silver Lake Campground

Silver Lake Campground adjoins the Bucks Lake Wilderness Area with 9 shady, quiet units for tent camping.  The campground also has trailhead parking for both Gold Lake and Granite Gap trails.  It is located off Silver Lake Road, accessed from Bucks Lake Rd, west of Quincy.

Silver Lake OHV Trailhead

Off-highway vehicle (OHV) trailhead access for the all terrain vehicle (ATV) trail system. The parking area is located inside Silver Lake Recreation Area, off to the right as you enter the recreation area.

Silver Lake Picnic Site

A great stop along the June Lake Loop to take a break right at the shore of Silver Lake. Restrooms and trash receptacle provided.

Silver Mines Recreation Area

Silver Mines offers a variety of recreational opportunities and is abundant with historic and geological wonders. This beautiful area is located along the St. Francis River, the only river in Missouri classified as "white water," and is used for kayaking during the spring high waters.
