Taking this route from the top down is an enjoyable downhill cruise with some short uphill sections and some outstanding views of the area. The trail mostly passes through lodgepole pine and an occasional meadow. The trail will make a great mountain bike loop trail in either direction. Red Tail Rim Trail North Trailhead

In addition to ample parking, this Trailhead has a picnic site and hitching posts for tacking up horses for day rides.

Red Tail Rim Trail South Trailhead

The Red Tail Rim Trail South Trailhead is the staging area for riding, hiking or mountain biking the Red Tail Rim Trail. There are hitching posts but no corrals. This trail is not a loop. The opposite trailhead is located at Red Tail Rim Trail North, about 8 miles north of Adin along Hwy 299/139. Ash Creek Campground is located south of this trailhead.

Red Top Campground

Red Top Campground is located northwest of Troy on Highway 508. The campground has 3 sites with tables and fire rings. Amenities include a vault toilet.

Redbird Wildlife Management Area

Redfeather Ranger Station

The Redfeather Ranger Station has two cabins, and an office with a visitor's center. The Ranger Cabin and the Assistant Ranger Cabin are available for lodging. Guests must provide linens, bedding, pillows, towels and toiletries. The Ranger Station is situated in a ponderosa pine forest. Afternoon thunderstorms can be expected during spring and summer months.

Redinger Campground

There is one designated camp area only.  Road access is paved.  Campfire permits are required.  NO campfires, hibachis, tiki torches, barbecues or charcoal briquettes.  Only gas or propane stoves are permitted.  Grey pine, chaparral and valley live oak provide shade.  Please pack out what you pack in.  Toilets are vault and accessible.
