Rim (Formerly Apple Middle) Trailhead

 Located just north of Windy Point, this trailhead provides access to the middle segments of Ochoco Mountain Trail (#823). There is limited roadside parking in the turnout so please plan accordingly when you come.

Rim 139

This trail is relatively level and is easily traveled. It follows the rim and passes through stands of Ponderosa pine.

Rim Campground

Rim Campground is situated close to the edge of the Mogollon Rim. Spectacular 100-mile views are seen from many vantage points along the rim. Natural Features: Rim Campground is surrounded by ponderosa pines and located in an area that is relatively flat. The area is frequented by deer and elk, but visitors occasionally catch a glimpse of black bear.

Rim Lake TH #1856

Rim Lake Trail follows the Sweetwater Trail for 3.1 miles before climbing another 5.1 miles to Rim Lake and Trapper's Lake Trail. The Sweetwater Trail is quite gentle, then the Rim Lake Trail gets steeper as it gets closer to the Lake, which rests up out of the valley on the Flat Tops plateau.

Rim Lakes Vista Observation Site

In addition to unobstructed views and the colorful oaks, sun-drenched glens along the trail foster wildflowers that bloom profusely well into mid-to-late October.
