Stage Coach Road (FR 292)
The historic stagecoach road (Forest Road 292) travels up the Chalk Creek Canyon from Alpine to the historic townsite of St. Elmo. Alpine is located approximately 12 miles west of Nathrop on County Road 162. The route is popular with cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The road follows the route of the stagecoach that travelled up to St. Elmo during the mining boom in the late 1870's.
Stage Stop Day Use Area
The stage stop site is just south of the Red Rock Ranger District office, at the south end of the Village of Oak Creek. It is not really a "trailhead", rather a parking area from which people can explore along Dry Beaver Creek.

Stage Stop-Sawmill Divide Interpretive Site
Stage Stop-Sawmill Divide Interpretive Site is one of many interpretive sites on the forest. Stage Stops: Three stage roads crossed the Bighorns carrying mail and passengers to settlements of the Big Horn Basin. One route went southwest of Buffalo, past Klondike Ranch, and up steep switchbacks on Crazy Woman Hill to Tensleep.

Stageyard Trailhead
Stageyard Trailhead provides access to six OHV trails that are open to vehicles 62-inch in width or less. The trails are a popular with hunters during the fall and during the summer the trails provide a family OHV experience. The scenic trails are primarily on old logging roads that wind through Ponderosa Pines and stands of Black Hills Spruce.
