Sheep Bridge

  On the banks high above the river stands a replica of the Verde River Sheep Bridge. The Flagstaff Sheep Company and the Howard Sheep Company constructed the original bridge to minimize the loss of sheep when crossing the river. Sheep Bridge Boating Site

Wickiup Reservoir is very rich, highly productive, relatively warm water and cooler deep channels generate some of the finest fishing in Central Oregon. This is a primitive boat ramp located within the Sheep Bridge Campground. Later in the season, in autumn, the ramp becomes mostly unusable as water levels are too low. There is also limited parking for pick-ups and trailers at this site.

Sheep Bridge Campground is located on the Deschutes River above Wickiup Reservoir. This campground offers opportunities for fishing and bird watching.

Sheep Corral #231 Trailhead

Trailhead for access to Sheep Corral Canyon - Trail #231, heading north towards the Gila River and Wilderness, and Tadpole Ridge - Trail #232, heading south towards the Signal Peak Trailhead on New Mexico Highway 15.

Sheep Creek Geological Loop

Sheep Gulch / Hope Pass

This is a popular, 2.5-mile trail with an elevation gain of 2,670 feet, that takes you to Hope Pass. It is run by participants training for the Leadville Trail 100-foot Race and is considered the "crux" of that infamous race. Hope Pass offers extraordinary views of the Collegiate Peaks with exceptional views of Missouri Mountain, Mount Belford, Mount Oxford and Huron Peak.
